About Cornerstone
How Cornerstone started
We started in a living room in 2004. We’re a lot bigger now, but we still feel most like ourselves around a table.

Our story
Eight people and a borrowed living room
In 2004, Daniel and Priya started inviting neighbours over on Sunday nights to read the Bible and pray for the street they lived on. Eight people came the first week. Two years later we’d moved into a high school cafeteria, and in 2012 we bought the old furniture warehouse on Alder Street. It still smells a little like sawdust when it rains.
We’ve grown a lot since then. We’ve also made mistakes, said sorry and learned to slow down. Most of what matters here still happens in someone’s living room on a weeknight.
What we believe
What we believe
01
Jesus
He is who he said he was. He died, he rose again, and following him is the best way to live.
02
The Bible
We read it on Sundays, in our groups and on our own. When a passage is hard, we keep reading and ask questions.
03
Grace
Nobody earns their way in here, including the pastors.
04
The church
We need each other, which is why we nudge everyone toward a home group.
05
Our neighbours
Alder Street is our parish. We clear gardens, run a Thursday food table and show up when we’re asked.
Our team
Who leads the church
Most of our staff started as volunteers. Daniel has been lead pastor since 2009 and still fills in on bass at the 5 PM when the band is short.

It’s the easiest way to get to know us. If you’d rather talk first, email the office and someone will write back.
